Class Descriptions

Mommy and Me (ages 2-4):  SEE CLASS SCHEDULE FOR DETAILS

Tiny Tutus (ages 2-3):  This class consists of pre-ballet, creative movement, basic rhythm, tumbling and introduction to tap.  Class meets once a week for 45 minutes.

Petite Stars (ages 4-5):  Pre-ballet, tap, tumbling and intro to jazz.  Class meets once per week for 1 hour.

Broadway Babes (ages 5-6):  Combination class.  Ballet, Jazz and Tap.  Meets once per week for I hour.

Junior Hip Hop (ages 5-10):  Learn the hottest street dance moves and music video choreography.  Meets 45 minutes per week.

Combo Class  (Ages 7-10):  We will continue with basic fundamentals of ballet, tap and jazz.  Meets once per week for one hour and 30 minutes.

Dancing Tweens:  (Ages 8 + Boys and Girls):  Ballroom for kids and teens!  Meets once per week for one hour.

Individual Classes for ages 11 +

Ballet:  A classical form of dance that provides a strong, solid technical base for all other dance forms.  These very technical classes consist of barre, center floor, and progressions across the floor.  Meets once per week for 45 minutes.  (Lyrical dance is incorporated)

Lyrical:  A highly technical style of dance that fuses ballet and jazz to show the meaning of music.  This style will challenge students to use movement and emotion to tell a story.  Choreography is often emotional, gripping and delicate. (Included in the ballet class)

Jazz:  Fun, upbeat style of dance that stems from ballet and combines today’s stylish moves with energetic, popular music.  Classes begin with a warm-up, followed by technique, across the floor combinations, leaps, turns and choreography. Meets once per week for 30 or 45 minutes (depending on age).

Tap:  A truly American style of dance, tap has found resurgence in the past few years.  Great for developing rhythmic coordination skills.  Meets once per week for 30 minutes.

Hip Hop for Teens:  High energy freestyle dance form that has evolved from break-dance, street dance, urban and jazz into one of the most popular forms today. Meets once per week for 45 minutes.

 

Pointe (Ages 12 and Up):  A continuation of ballet on Pointe shoes. To be eligible for Pointe work, a student must have strong ballet technique, correct body placement, proper physical qualifications, and a self disciplined attitude. A personal evaluation is required.  Meets once per week for 45 minutes.

 

Ballroom
A combination of swing, salsa and foxtrot, tango, cha cha, rumba and west coast, this class introduces adults to the many styles of ballroom dancing. For the beginner or advanced student, singles or partners welcome. Meets once per week for one hour.  Private Lessons are available!

 

ZUMBA

Are you ready to party yourself into shape?  That's exactly what the Zumba program is all about.  It's an exhiliarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness party that's moving millions of people toward joy and health!
