GUIDANCE
"When I meditated on the word guidance, I kept seeing “dance” at the end of the word.  I remember reading that doing God’s will is a lot like dancing.  When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.  The movement doesn’t flow with the music and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person relaxes and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music.  One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.  It’s as if two become one body, moving beautifully.  The dance takes surrender, willingness and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word guidance.  When I saw “G” I thought of God, followed by “u” and “i”.  God, you and I dance.  This statement is what guidance means to me.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life.  Once again, I became willing to let God lead."

STAFF

Our Faculty:

We are thrilled to announce our newly expanded staff this year!  Tiffany Stahl and Sheri Mason will be available to teach a variety of classes pertaining to the performing arts

Tiffany was raised in Newburg, PA and began to study dance at the age of two.  Her mother enrolled her in classes at MAR-LE-NIE Dance Studio in Chambersburg, PA where she accelerated to the top of her class.  Tiffany began her teaching career at the age of 14.  When she was able to drive she began teaching at other area schools.  She says “One of the best things about growing up in such a unique studio was being able to travel to New York for dance workshops.  I was able to study with famous dancers and choreographers such as Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Brenda Buffalino and Greg Russell.”

Tiffany currently resides in Nashville and is an Independent Dance Instructor.  She is contracted by the Wildhorse Saloon to teach line dancing along with teaching at numerous studios in and surrounding Nashville.  In addition to the traditional ballet, tap and jazz, Tiffany is also certified to teach lyrical, hip hop, country, ballroom, west coast swing and salsa/mambo.

“Dancing is such an important part of a healthy lifestyle.  It provides your body with exercise and challenges your brain.  The combination of the two keeps a person young and fit.”  Tiffany also believes without dance as a creative outlet she would not have achieved the many goals which she had set for herself.  Dance has given her the confidence to survive in such a competitive world.

Sheri Mason was born in Paducah, KY and had a growing interest in music from the time she was a child.  She began piano instruction when she was eight and vocal instruction at the age of fourteen.  In high school, Sheri traveled with the show choir, sang at church and performed with the worship band of the Christian ministry where she was an active member.  She attended Western Kentucky University and studied classical voice, graduating with a double major in Elementary Education and Music.
Sheri loves to awaken the creative spirits of small individuals through music play and games, singing and movement.  Children learn the rudiments and elements of music through activities that teach pitch matching, steady beat, and use of rhythm instruments along with interpretation of what they hear through movement.  Children who wish to further their musicianship through the study on an instrument may study beginning and intermediate piano with Sheri.

Addie Gibbs has been a staple at Lisa Walker’s dance studio for 19 years.  She has gone from student to student assistant to instructor, all the while studying ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and Pointe.  Addie has participated in Southern Association of Dance Masters and Dance Makers Inc. workshops and taken classes from well known choreographers such as Frank Hatchett, Hank Crabtree, Janice Barringer and Steven Boyd.  She competed in Nashville, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Gatlinburg, Florida and Myrtle Beach earning top scores and awards for her performance.  Addie was invited and performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Music City Bowl and numerous community events.  She has a passion for dance and loves helping children discover their ability, confidence and love for the art.  Addie will take her dance certification exam with SADM in October of this year.

Kelly Kizer (“Miss Kelly”) is a favorite amongst her students. She is currently a junior at CSCC and an assistant instructor for PRECISION DANCE. Kelly’s talents include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, Pointe and modeling. She has attended numerous dance conventions including Dance Makers, Inc. and Southern Association of Dance Masters and has studied with many famous choreographers such as Darryl Retter, Tom Alexander, Janice Barringer, Rhonda Miller and Brad Taylor. Kelly has also participated in the ROCKETTES INTENSIVE PROGRAM. In addition taking dance classes, she has earned top scores and awards for her performance in many regional and national competitions such as SHOWSTOPPERS, STAR SYSTEMS, APPLAUSE, and MASQUERADE. After graduation, Kelly plans to become a full time dance instructor/choreographer for PRECISION DANCE. She is a member of Tennessee Association of Dance and will take her dance teacher certification exams with SADM in October.

Director, Lisa Walker has more than 25 years teaching experience.  She is an active member of Tennessee Association of Dance, American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and Professional Dance Teachers Association of America.  “Miss Lisa” received her certification through DEA in 1982 and attends teacher training workshops yearly.  In addition to receiving numerous choreography awards both locally and nationally, she was nominated for outstanding young choreographer in 1998.  Lisa received the TOP TEACHER AWARD in 2006 and 2009 from STAR SYSTEMS in Nashville and Myrtle Beach.  These awards are given to the teacher/choreographer whose dancers receive the top score in their division.  Her students have performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Nokia Sugar Bowl and the Music City Bowl halftime show.  “Miss Lisa’s training includes ballet, tap, jazz, Pointe, lyrical, acrobatics and hip hop.

At Precision Dance, we offer both recreational and competitive dance classes for ages three through adult.  Student Assistants are available in each class to make certain that every student receives individual attention and correction.  All student assistants are trained by “Miss Lisa” and are required to participate in teacher/student workshops on a yearly basis.

Precision Dance aspires to deliver dance instruction of the highest quality in a fun and disciplined environment. We will provide a nurturing yet challenging atmosphere that will propel students to reach their potential as dancers, as well as individuals. It is the goal of Precision Dance instructors to promote dedication and hard work, to foster friendships, and to encourage creativity in a safe and supportive community.
